31 days of powerful prayer. Day 4: Where to pray?

, , No Comments

Have you ever thought where should you pray?
I mean I'm sure you know that you can pray anywhere...we can pray while washing the dishes,
while shopping, or just before going to sleep but it is also true that we find from the Bible
some specific advice where we should pray.

But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
-Matthew 6:6

Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.
-Mark 1:35

But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.
 -Luke 5:16

One of those days Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, and spent the night praying to God.
-Luke 6:12

About noon the following day as they were on their journey and approaching the city, Peter went up on the roof to pray.
-Acts 10:9

So from these verses we see that when Jesus prayed he withdrew to lonely places.
His relationship to Father was very intimate so when he needed help or strength he
went to a lonely place and prayed.
There is nothing wrong to pray with other people or pray very quickly for the things as they
come to our minds, but if we really want to pray in a powerful way we should do as
the verse in Matthew 6:6 tells us to do:
Pray in your room behind the closed door- in the other words in the closet!
And I love how Max Lucado says that God loves to chat in the closet! :)

So find a closet, an empty office, a basement or some other secret place where you can be alone with God.
That's where you can pray in the most powerful way!
Why?Because we get so easily distracted,
but when we are in a silent place we can pray without
interruption.

hough it is not wrong to pray with others—or to utter a "quickie" prayer in some emergency—that is certainly not recommended as the normal primary practice of prayer for a genuine Christian who sincerely wants to put God first in his or her life. - See more at: http://www.tomorrowsworld.org/magazines/2011/july-august/where-and-how-should-you-pray-to-god#sthash.BlGTOXzl.dpuf
