31 days of powerful prayer. Day 22: The power of a praying in tongues

, , No Comments
"If you are a follower of Jesus, the Holy Spirit of God, the very same Spirit that raised Christ from the grave, lives inside of you. The miracle power of the Spirit of God dwells within the believer. That, that way, you can talk to God.You can hear from God. You have the power of God.
The Holy Spirit is your counselor, guide and He will give you the power to walk in God's will.
The Holy Spirit will give you the power to make a difference with spiritual gifts. And when He fills you, He will give you certain spiritual gifts, gifts that you don't have the power to do on your own."
-Craig Groeschel

To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit,  to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, o another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues.
-1 Corinthians 12:8-10

So the Holy Spirit will give you different gifts and one of them is
speaking in tongues.

The gifts are given to us so that we can exercise and experience the power of God in the world we are living.
In  1 Corinthians 14:18 Paul says:
"I thank God that I speak in tongues."
So surely speaking and praying in tongues is something powerful...
Why?Because it is a source of strength that builds you up
inside and strengthens you spiritually. And it also increases your
sensitivity to the leading of the Holy Spirit.

For anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to people but to God.
Indeed, no one understands them; they utter mysteries by the Spirit.
-1 Corinthians 14:2

When we pray in tongues our minds do not comprehend what we are praying but we speak spiritual secrets and mysteries to the Lord.
So we don't understand what we are praying while praying in tongues but the great thing is that
Satan cannot understand our prayers in tongues so praying in tongues is a powerful weapon.
Praying in tongues is also a way to pray correctly when we really don't know what to pray.

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness, for we do not know how we should pray, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with inexpressible groanings.
-Romans 8:26

I believe that praying in tongues is very powerful. It gives us supernatural wisdom and strength.
If you are not familiar with praying in tongues I encourage you to study this topic more
for yourself. And then pray.
I love how Cindy Jacob says that the steps to receiving the power of the Holy Spirit are really simple.

They are:
1. First ask (see Luke 11:13 – the passage refers to a good father not giving a scorpion to a son who asks for an egg and how much more will God give the Holy Spirit to those that ask Him).
2. Believe that you have received.
3. Ask the Lord to give you a new language to praise Him.
4. Open your mouth to speak.
5. Don't be discouraged if you don't speak tongues at that moment.
6. Repent if you have said speaking in tongues is not for today.
7. As you are praying in the Spirit, write down the thoughts that come to you during that time and expect God to speak new things to you.

My prayer to us today is:
“God, may You fill us all with Your Spirit, that we could please You always, empowered by You to do everything You call us to do.”
Amen.
